Born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area, I am currently based in Boston completing a Master’s degree in international affairs with a focus in security studies. I graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 2012 with a degree in political science, and spent two years working in the nonprofit world, lobbying for campaign finance reform, and freelancing. I’ve spent time studying and traveling abroad in Europe, South America, and Africa.
Outside of my academic work, which currently focuses on women in armed conflict, I have been published in The Baltimore Sun, Mic, Shadowproof, and The Public Eye. When I’m not doing that, I am generally reading or watching Netflix, running, training Muay Thai kickboxing, experimenting with vegetarian recipes, and stopping to pet every dog I meet on the street.
